ACLU Files Lawsuit over Abortion Insurance Prohibition
The American Civil Liberties Union is suing the state of Kansas over a new law preventing private insurers from covering abortion (though under the newly signed law, insurers can offer women an abortion coverage rider). The law was designed to protect ordinary Kansans from having their insurance premiums pay for other people’s abortions.
The ACLU lawsuit is the third lawsuit filed this summer against the new Pro-Life laws put in place by the Kansas Legislature and signed by Governor Brownback.
